Rogue One PSVR game coming free to Star Wars Battlefront players

EA were out in force at Gamescom with new reveals (unless you count their terrible livestream) , revealing more on the Playstation VR aspect of Star Wars Battlefront.

The VR game will be free for Playstation owners who have a copy of Battlefront and a PSVR headset.  It will feature gameplay based on the universe in the main game, but the title hints at the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story movie, where the rebels have to steal the plans for the Death Star, those same plans which find their way to Princess Leia and R2D2.

However, speaking to Playstation,  James Svensson, Producer at Criterion Games has explained that “Rogue One is in the same time period the base game covers, so to be relevant in the ever-evolving Star Wars universe we’ve since been able to work with Lucasfilm to make the connection here.”

“Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-wing VR Mission is an extension of the base game, which is known as a truly authentic Star Wars video game. It’s been really important for us to hit that high bar, working closely with Lucasfilm to ensure that the VR experience is fun and exciting for Star Warsfans. The VR Mission will be available for free to all owners of Star Wars Battlefront and a PlayStation VR headset on PlayStation 4.”

The VR expansion is due to arrive in October, alongside the PSVR Headset.
