Microsoft cancels Scalebound

Microsoft has confirmed that their forthcoming new IP, Scalebound, has been cancelled.

Developed by Platinum Games, the dragon-based game was first shown at E3 in 2014, with the hope that it would be released at the end of 2016.  After pushing the game back further into this year, it now seems that Scalebound won’t see the light of day at all.

Even as late as E3 2016, the game was being touted as another big new IP for the Xbox One and Scorpio consoles.

But it sounds as if Platinum were having big issues getting the game running well and since Microsoft want to focus on the forthcoming franchises like Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2 and Halo Wars 2, they might have decided that the resources were better placed elsewhere.
