Switch hits 1.5m sales

SuperData has estimated Nintendo have sold 1.5 million Switch consoles worldwide to date.

According to MCV, the number has been calculated by adding together the estimated 500k US sales, 360k Japanese sales and data from across Europe.

Nintendo’s goal was to hit 2 million sales of the console worldwide by the end of March 2017.  It now looks like this could well be possible if the momentum continues and the lure of games like Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild encourage more potential buyers to pick up the console.

The only thing standing in the way at the moment is the rarity of the console at physical stores, often with labels suggesting more shipments are on the way, though with no indication from Nintendo when this will be.
