Activision have announced that Black Ops 4, which launched late last week, has broken digital records in sales.
The PlayStation version hit the ground running with a record on PSN for day one digital full game sales globally as well as hitting a record for being the best selling Activision game on Xbox One’s store to date.
Even the PC saw double the sales of the last Call of Duty, despite (or maybe because of) there being no single player mode.
Of course, selling more digitally did mean a drop in physical sales, but it seems the gaming world is leaning towards a digital future. It will be interesting to see how physical sales will go as more players encourage their friends to get in on the game and, from what we’ve played so far, they won’t need much encouragement, especially given the new Battle Royale Blackout mode which rivals the popular PUBG and Fortnite.
You can expect our review of the game shortly after we’ve had more in-depth experience with the live servers.
