Nintendo’s next console will arrive in March 2017 according to their latest earnings call.
Nintendo’s earnings calls are closely watched for any information on forthcoming software and hardware and this was no exception. Tucked under 2016’s earning and projected earnings for 2017 is the text “For our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed “NX” with a brand-new concept. NX will be launched in March 2017 globally.”
The forecast also mentioned new apps to be released after the success of Miitomo, the social media style Mii based smartphone app. “Also, for our smart device business, following Miitomo, we will continuously release new apps in order to expand the revenue base as a business.”
The move to March 2017 will surprise many as the NX was considered to be ready for a Christmas 2016 launch.
