While Pokémon Go certainly got people going, it lacked one on one battles and players have been hoping to see this in an update for quite a while. Well, The Pokémon Company have beaten Niantic (creators of Pokémon Go) to the punch on this one with the release of the official new Pokémon Duel app on iOS and Android.
But this time you won’t be taking control of ‘real’ Pokémon, this game is focused on the PFL, the Pokémon Figure League.
Battles happen on a tabletop with a set number of moves for each Pokémon, with a wheel being spun when you move next to an opponent, giving an element of luck to the proceedings as well as skill from working out how to get across the board. The ultimate goal is fairly simple, though; move to the other player’s goal and you’ve won.
Pokémon Duel is available now on the iOS App Store and Google Play and is a free app with In-game payments, though having played this, I can confirm these aren’t really necessary.
