The Nintendo Switch will come with 2 Joycon controllers, one each side of the console. But that’s not all they can do.
Nintendo revealed some pretty nifty tricks for their removable controllers, which can also be bought in several colours, red and blue, as you can see from the pictures below.
Removing each controller from either the console or the special joycon controller base, a wrist strap can connect to each one, in a similar way to a Wii Remote. Â Like a Wii Remote, each controller is also motion sensitive with a built in gyroscope in each side.
In addition, the right hand Joycon has a built in advanced IR sensor which is capable of sensing the distance of objects, shape and size. Â It can determine hands in different positions (rock, paper, scissors in the example given in the video), which can be used in games.
Each Joycon can also produce different feelings via the new HD Rumble feature, a more advanced version of the rumble featured in many earlier Nintendo consoles, accurate enough to convey the feeling of the number of ice cubes in a glass.
The Joycon controllers will come with the Nintendo Switch when it launches on March 3rd and extra controllers with different colours will be available for an additional cost.
