The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame is coming out this week and from what we’ve seen, it looks like the best LEGO game so far.
The game will be available physically and digitally in the UK this Friday 1st March on PS4 and Xbox One with a digital version on PC and Switch. The physical version for Nintendo Switch will be available on 15th March 2019.
The most exciting aspect of the game is that the developers have taken some inspiration from the LEGO Worlds game and added a little more building to the gameplay, though it’s less free form, thankfully. This opens up the game to make it much more like plunging your hand in a box of LEGO (I still love that feeling!) and separates it out from previous LEGO games while still following a movie scenario with the story.
The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame is based on events that take place in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part as the story begins in the desolated wasteland of Apocalypseburg where alien invaders have left Bricksburg in ruins! Emmet, Lucy and his awesome crew of companions go beyond their world to save their friends from the strange inhabitants of the faraway Systar System.
TT Games and Warner Bros are also bringing out free DLC this spring, adding new locations to explore, new characters to meet and new challenges to face.
